Fayetteville, AR
On a November 6 meeting, The Ordinance Review Committee of the City Council has recommended extending the sunset clause for the city’s short-term rental ordinance until at least July 1, 2025, giving the council more time to consider adjustments without risking legal challenges.
The current ordinance, set to expire on December 31, was established in 2021 to allow and regulate short-term rentals, which were previously prohibited.
This will be the second extension of the sunset clause in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The recommendation will now go to the full council for final approval.
Cass County, MN
```At a recent hearing last November 5, Cass County officials reviewed a proposed short-term rental ordinance, which would introduce regulations such as yearly licensing requirements with tiered fees based on occupancy. Other concerns raised by residents revolved around losing licenses, parking, and rules around shuttling guests.
After hearing public input over concerns of added expenses for property owners, the board sent the ordinance back to the planning commission for further refinement. A revised version will undergo another public hearing before any final decisions are made.
