TULSA, OK
Voters decide November 3 whether to nearly double Tulsa's hotel guest tax from 5% to 9.9%, a measure the City Council says applies to short-term rentals such as Airbnb and Vrbo along with hotels, motels and inns.

City officials estimate the higher rate would raise about $20.6 million a year to market Tulsa and attract visitors with new revenue possible as early as January 2027 while Mayor Monroe Nichols, city councilors and small business owners are urging residents to back the proposal ahead of the vote.

NEW ORLEANS, LA
Commercial short-term rentals, now banned on a section of Decatur Street in the French Quarter, would be allowed there at one unit per qualifying building under zoning changes the City Planning Commission was scheduled to consider on October 27 with each unit capped at two bedrooms and four guests under a one-per-block limit.

It also tightens Bourbon Street where commercial rentals already operate so new operations in both entertainment districts would be limited to one smaller unit per building while existing rentals would generally be grandfathered.

LAS VEGAS, NV
Airbnb is activating its heightened anti-party technology in Las Vegas and across the U.S. for Halloween weekend, blocking or redirecting entire-home bookings it flags as higher risk for disruptive parties in the sixth consecutive year it has used the system for the holiday.

Last Halloween weekend the defenses deterred about 40 people in Las Vegas and more than 23,500 nationwide from booking an entire home while 0.07% of Nevada reservations in 2025 led to a party report. Airbnb also remains a plaintiff in a federal lawsuit against Clark County's rental licensing rules.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA
Transient occupancy tax which visitors pay for stays in hotels, motels and other short-term lodging brought in a record $12.28 million for San Luis Obispo in the 2025-26 fiscal year, according to figures presented to City Council at an October meeting.
