CLARK COUNTY, NV
A 45-day review period for rental license applications and an end to the application lottery are part of a proposed ordinance introduced to commissioners on October 20 which faces a public hearing and possible vote on November 3. That window would apply unless restrictions such as another rental within 1,000 feet come into play while short-term rentals would become a conditional commercial use in certain zones.
Clark County’s Proposed Short-Term Rental Ordinance Amendments, October 20, 2026
Official 27-page draft ordinance proposing an end to the licensing lottery, a 45-business-day application review framework, and revised zoning and spacing requirements ahead of the November 3 public hearing.
It follows a Ninth Circuit ruling to narrow a federal injunction against the county which could let it reopen its application portal after more than 1,300 names were drawn in a March 2023 lottery.
For the second time since August, Clark County commissioners are weighing changes to the short-term rental law.

CHARLESTON, SC
Occupancy limits set by the fire marshal under a maintenance code are the biggest change in the short-term rental rule amendments the Planning Commission was scheduled to take up on October 21 as the citizen advisory board works to clarify the city's existing rental rules.

City Council has spent roughly a year reviewing the amendments before they reached the commission while the outcome of the October 21 meeting.
DICKINSON, TX
Planning and Zoning commissioners voted October 20 to recommend denying a short-term rental permit for one property after neighbors complained of disruptive parties and blocked driveways while recommending approval for three other rentals, one of them limited to six guests and three vehicles. City Council has the final say on all four applications on October 27.

The applications follow a citywide enforcement push in which a contractor has identified about 30 rentals while only one is registered after a February 26 appeals court ruling reversed a lower court decision that had declared the city's rental ordinance unconstitutional.
CATAWBA COUNTY, NC
County staff will study options for regulating short-term rentals after commissioners approved an update to the Unified Development Ordinance on October 19 and directed the review.

The ordinance update, shaped over 18 months of public feedback gathered by staff and a planning consultant, brings county development rules in line with the 2024 Comprehensive Plan and recent changes to North Carolina General Statutes as the county weighs whether rentals need rules of their own.
POOLER, GA
Neighbors are calling on city leaders to change the short-term rental ordinance after gunfire at an Airbnb in a residential subdivision which a resident's security camera captured and which left a hole in a nearby mailbox.

The current ordinance allows rentals in residential neighborhoods with an annual application and several required certifications while requiring rentals to sit at least 500 feet apart and capping guests based on each home's occupancy limit. City leaders said they were unable to say whether they plan to revisit the rules.
ISLE, MN
One more short-term rental permit won City Council approval after a public hearing on October 13 once an existing rental dropped off the city's list which freed a spot so the new permit could be granted without exceeding the city's maximum.

Planning and Zoning staff reported at the same meeting that short-term rentals are back at full capacity, leaving every permit slot under the city's cap filled again after the latest approval.
