NEW ORLEANS, LA
The nightly fee on every short-term rental stay rises to $20 for both residential and commercial units after the City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 35,574 on October 15, up from $12 for commercial and $5 for residential rentals to help close a $100 million budget gap.

Official New Orleans City Council recap of the October 15, 2026 meeting confirming the $20 nightly short-term rental fee and changes to corporate ownership regulations.
Council also adopted Ordinance No. 35,597 to align its rules with a Fifth Circuit ruling on corporate ownership, and the same court has upheld the city’s 2023 cap of one rental license per residential block, rejecting a takings claim by hosts and Airbnb.

GANGES TOWNSHIP, MI
Up to 175 short-term rental licenses will be allowed under Ordinance No. 70, which the Township Board approved 4-1 on October 13 to replace a moratorium in place since December 2025 with the rules taking effect November 20. Owners must register each year, carry $1 million in liability insurance, pass a fire inspection and certify septic pumping every three years while stays must last at least two days in single-family homes capped at 12 occupants.
Ganges Township's Short-Term Rental Ordinance No. 70 (2026)
Official ordinance approved October 13, 2026, establishing a 175-license cap, annual registration, safety and insurance requirements, occupancy limits, and penalties for violations, effective November 20, 2026.
Unregistered rentals face $500 fines that can recur daily and three violations in a year can lead to suspension or revocation.
LAKEWOOD, OH
Council Vice President Kyle Baker and Councilman Tom Bullock are sponsoring a resolution that would pause new short-term rental permits for six months which City Council is set to consider at its October 19 meeting.

The six-month pause would temporarily stop the city from issuing permits that let properties operate as short-term rentals while the sponsors seek a review of regulations covering housing affordability, neighborhood impacts and enforcement.
OTSEGO, NY
Residents get a formal chance to comment on the town’s updated comprehensive plan when officials hold a public hearing on October 21 after pushback over an earlier idea to require owner-occupancy for short-term rentals led the town to revise the draft. The revised plan calls for exploring new ordinances for stays of less than 30 days that could include owner-occupancy, town or county ownership, density-based limits and grandfathering existing operators until the property is sold.

The plan updates the version approved in 2008 and is not law though it sets the long-range goals that guide future town action.
SAN DIEGO, CA
Proposed amendments to close a loophole that lets landlords obtain short-term rental licenses after illegal evictions are set to go before a council committee hearing on October 21 less than two months before Councilmember Jennifer Campbell whose office is bringing the changes, leaves office. The amendments have missed earlier target months and Council President Joe LaCava has said he will renew his own push on the rental ordinance if her proposal stalls or falls short.

City rules allow one license per host and bar transfers between owners or units yet officials still cannot match eviction records to new licenses.
BELLA VISTA, AR
Density maximums and separation distances for short-term rentals are under review as the city’s Planning and Development Department seeks public feedback through a survey ahead of a Planning Commission public hearing on the proposed requirements set for November 9.

Residents have until November 5 to submit responses, and anyone attending the hearing will have up to five minutes each to address the commission before it weighs the new limits.
KEENE, NH
Hosted and non-hosted short-term rentals would be allowed in 15 zoning districts under a proposed ordinance that City Council heard public comment on at an October 15 hearing which defines the use as stays of fewer than 30 consecutive days in a city with about 80 active rentals. Non-hosted rentals would have to post contact details for an owner or manager who can reach the property within an hour while the draft creates no citywide licensing program.

Written comments are due November 10 and the ordinance returns to the Planning, Licenses and Development Committee on November 12.
BOULDER, CO
Licensing ahead of Sundance has topped the city’s goal of 1,500 rentals with 1,525 properties cleared to advertise and 1,848 short-term and festival lodging licenses issued or pending as of October 1, about three months before the festival arrives. The special festival lodging license lets residents and approved tenants rent their homes for up to 29 days a year during major city-approved events with fewer requirements than a standard short-term rental license.

Applications picked up in September and the pace is expected to continue as the festival approaches.

Good question. Not totally sure. I wonder if it's potentially related to STRs, as this unit is advertising itself a potential short-term rental income property.
